Hybrid street Lamp

Hybrid Street Light

Urban streets, bus stops, park pathways and many locations where traditional lighting is not feasible — hybrid street lights are perfectly suited for all of these environments. Explore the BrasiT range of hybrid lighting solutions and choose an efficient system powered by both solar and wind energy.

Hybrid street lighting – key benefits

Energy independence

Hybrid street lights do not require connection to the electrical grid. They can therefore be installed wherever access to traditional power sources is limited or too costly. Hybrid street lighting performs exceptionally well in rural areas and recreational sites far from city centers.

Simple installation

Traditional lighting infrastructure requires digging, weeks of construction work, and costly electrical connections. Hybrid street lighting, on the other hand, offers quick and nearly non-invasive installation. No expensive trenching or grid connection needed.

Reliability

Sometimes the sun shines less, other times the wind blows more gently. Thanks to energy stored in the batteries, hybrid street lights continue to illuminate streets regardless of weather conditions. If one energy source underperforms, the other provides uninterrupted lighting.

Energy savings

Traditional street lights consume large amounts of electricity, resulting in high energy costs and significant CO₂ emissions. Hybrid lights eliminate this problem — they draw power exclusively from renewable sources. As a result, municipalities can reduce electricity bills while improving air quality.

What is a hybrid street light made of?

At BrasiT, we use only components manufactured by globally recognized — not only Polish — companies. Each hybrid street lighting system consists of the following elements:

  • LED lighting luminaires – ensure excellent efficiency and long service life. They allow precise light direction with reduced glare and dispersion, delivering effective illumination while maintaining low energy consumption.
  • Photovoltaic modulescollect solar energy and charge the batteries. To guarantee year-round performance, the panels operate even under limited sunlight, such as during winter and cloudy weather. Proper installation angle is essential for maximum energy capture.
  • Wind turbine – supports the hybrid system, particularly in winter or shorter daylight conditions when solar energy production is reduced. When wind is weaker, the solar panels take over — ensuring continuous operation.
  • Charge controller – a critical element that manages hybrid lamp operation. Using MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology, it can increase the energy harvested from panels by up to 30%. It functions effectively even in cloudy weather. BrasiT also offers wireless control through infrared remote control or dedicated PC software.
  • Gel batteries – store the collected energy and power the lamp at night and during cloudy conditions. We recommend placing the batteries in a waterproof, anti-theft underground enclosure to protect them from damage, overheating in summer, and freezing in winter.
  • Steel pole – supports the entire installation and must meet durability standards, especially in high-wind locations. The pole of a hybrid street light is certified in accordance with EN1090 and EN 40-5, issued by an independent construction certification authority. Its design prevents shading of the photovoltaic panels.

Where should hybrid street lights be installed?

Traditional lighting cannot be installed everywhere — in many cases it becomes too complicated and expensive. Hybrid street lights are the ideal solution in such locations. They are also a great alternative for typical areas where conventional lighting is used, as they eliminate electricity bills altogether.

Hybrid lighting is perfect for parks and bike paths, where proper illumination improves comfort and safety during evening activities. We also recommend installing hybrid street lights in residential neighborhoods, where children play outdoors until late in summer. With hybrid lamps, dusk no longer means darkness on the streets.

Hybrid lighting systems are also ideal for many public areas, bus stops and parking lots, improving the safety and comfort of users at any time of day. The same applies to industrial and warehouse areas — appropriately placed lighting facilitates work and increases safety.

By using renewable energy sources, hybrid street lighting works where traditional systems fail — adapting to environmental conditions and changing weather. Discover BrasiT’s hybrid street lighting solutions and contact our specialists today!
