Active Pedestrian Crossing Signage D-6 and D-6b with Dedicated Lighting – Krasnystaw

As part of the reconstruction of the road connecting Kościuszki Street and St. Jadwiga Street as well as Zwoleńska Street in Krasnystaw, a modern solution was implemented to improve road traffic safety in the vicinity of pedestrian crossings. The project included the installation of active D-6 and D-6b signs together with intelligent pedestrian crossing lighting.

The system is based on a structure with an outreach arm – a 6-meter-long boom installed above the roadway, ensuring excellent visibility of the signage from a greater distance and enabling earlier driver reaction.

Two LED warning beacons with a diameter of Ø300 mm were installed on the pole, operating in a flashing mode 24 hours a day. The intense light signals effectively attract drivers’ attention both during the day and at night, increasing the visibility of the pedestrian crossing.

The implemented active D-6b sign features an animated “walking pedestrian” symbol, displayed in three animation phases. The dynamic image significantly enhances the readability of the signage and has a stronger impact on driver perception than traditional static road signs.

The system is complemented by LED pedestrian crossing lighting, which improves the visibility of pedestrians after dark and in conditions of reduced air transparency. The combination of D-6 and D-6b signs with active light signaling creates a cohesive and highly effective safety enhancement system.

The implemented solution represents a modern standard in road infrastructure, increasing pedestrian safety, improving driver response, and enhancing the overall comfort of urban road use.
