Modernization of a pedestrian crossing with hybrid lighting and active signage – Ostrożanka, Municipality of :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}
In the village of Ostrożanka, at the intersection of Municipal Road No. 347002T with County Road No. 1775T, a project involving the modernization of a pedestrian crossing was implemented, aimed at improving the safety of residents and road users. The investment was co-financed under the “Razem Bezpieczniej” program.
As part of the project, hybrid LED street luminaires with a power rating of 38 W were supplied and installed, model HLU-38W/400W/400W/6m. The LED luminaires, with a light color temperature of 4000 K and a luminous flux of 6100 lm, were specifically adapted for pedestrian crossing illumination. The asymmetric light distribution ensures excellent pedestrian visibility while preventing driver glare.
The luminaires operate in conjunction with an active D-6 “SIGN FLASH” sign, which is automatically activated when a pedestrian approaching the crossing is detected. The dynamic illumination of the sign effectively attracts drivers’ attention at the critical moment, increasing alertness and reducing reaction time.
The pole structures are made of S235 steel, in accordance with the construction standard PN-EN 1090, and designed for operation in Wind Zone I. The applied solutions comply with the requirements of the new regulation WR-D-41-4 concerning pedestrian crossing lighting. The LED luminaires are manufactured in Poland and hold ZETOM certifications, confirming their quality and compliance with stringent lighting standards.
Additionally, a solar-powered active radar sign – speed display was installed above the roadway, mounted on a 6-meter outreach arm. The radar detects vehicles exceeding the speed limit and activates only in situations of actual risk, increasing effectiveness compared to continuously flashing signs.
The implemented solutions form a comprehensive safety system, combining intelligent hybrid lighting, active vertical signage, and radar-based speed control. The project significantly improves crossing visibility, raises driver awareness, and effectively enhances pedestrian safety in the intersection area.
