Comprehensive improvement of road safety – active signage and pedestrian crossing lighting in Jordanów
In the town of Jordanów, within the Brzeziny municipality, a project was implemented involving the delivery and installation of modern active and solar-powered road safety devices, aimed at increasing pedestrian protection and improving the clarity of road signage at critical points of road infrastructure.
As part of the investment, a hybrid active D-6 road sign of the pylon type was installed, featuring a 6-metre cantilever arm positioned above the roadway. The structure ensures excellent visibility of the signage from a long distance and effectively attracts the attention of drivers approaching the pedestrian crossing.
The pylon is equipped with two LED flashers with a diameter of 300 mm, operating in flashing mode 24 hours a day, as well as internal LED illumination of the sign. Additionally, an LED luminaire for pedestrian crossing lighting was installed beneath the sign and is controlled by motion sensors.
The crossing lighting operates in an energy-saving mode at 30% power, and automatically increases light intensity to 100% power upon detecting a pedestrian. This solution ensures maximum visibility of pedestrians at the critical moment of entering the roadway while reducing energy consumption during periods of no traffic.
The scope of works also included the installation of 3 solar-powered active roadside D-6 signs, 2 active B-20 signs powered by solar energy and equipped with a radar detecting the direction of travel, as well as 5 D-6 information signs manufactured on a fluorescent background, improving their visibility both during the day and after dark.
The implemented solutions form a coherent system of active signage and intelligent lighting, significantly improving pedestrian safety, increasing driver awareness, and reducing the risk of dangerous road incidents.
The project was carried out as part of the programme “I Feel Safer on the Roads of Brzeziny County”, co-financed by the Government Programme for Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour Prevention “Safer Together” named after Władysław Stasiak.
