Hybrid pedestrian crossing lighting – Jerzwałd, Zalewo Municipality
In the town of Jerzwałd, within the Zalewo Municipality, an investment was implemented as part of the reconstruction of a municipal road, the key objective of which was to increase pedestrian safety through the use of a modern hybrid active pedestrian crossing marking system.
The project included the installation of a hybrid active D-6 road sign, located above the roadway. This solution significantly improves the visibility of the pedestrian crossing both during the day and after dark, as well as in conditions of limited visibility.
The D-6 sign was mounted on a pylon structure with a 6 m outreach arm, ensuring excellent readability for drivers approaching from both directions.
Two LED flashers with a diameter of 300 mm were installed on the pylon pole and operate continuously 24 hours a day. Constant light signaling effectively attracts drivers’ attention and increases alertness in the crossing area.
Additionally, internal LED illumination of the pylon was applied, improving the visibility of the entire structure and enhancing the aesthetics of the road infrastructure.
An integral part of the system is a dedicated LED luminaire for illuminating the pedestrian crossing, controlled by motion sensors. In standby mode, the lighting operates at 30% power, providing basic visibility with minimal energy consumption.
When a pedestrian approaching the crossing is detected, the system automatically increases the lighting level to 100% power. As a result, the pedestrian’s silhouette becomes clearly visible and drivers receive a clear warning signal.
The implemented hybrid pedestrian crossing lighting in Jerzwałd is a modern, energy-efficient, and effective solution that significantly enhances road safety and meets current road infrastructure standards.
