Hybrid Active D-6 LED Sign – Intelligent Pedestrian Crossing Marking

The active hybrid D-6 LED sign is a modern solution designed to enhance safety at pedestrian crossings, particularly in areas with high levels of road and pedestrian traffic. The system has been developed to improve pedestrian visibility and enable faster driver reaction.

In the village of Nowy Sielec, within the Jutrosin Municipality, a structure with a 6-meter-long cantilever arm was installed, positioned above the roadway near a DINO store. This solution ensures excellent sign visibility from a long distance and clear readability regardless of lighting conditions.

The structure is made of high-strength S355 structural steel, providing high resistance to loads, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions. The solid construction ensures long service life and reliable operation in public spaces.

The D-6 sign is equipped with two 300 mm diameter LED beacons, which flash continuously throughout the day, effectively attracting drivers’ attention both during daytime and at night. In addition, a double-sided D-6 pylon with internal LED backlighting was applied, enhancing sign visibility from both directions of traffic.

An LED street luminaire designed to illuminate the pedestrian crossing was installed beneath the sign. In standard operating mode, the lighting operates at 30% power, providing basic visibility while reducing energy consumption.

The system is equipped with narrow-beam motion sensors that detect the presence of pedestrians within the crossing area. Once motion is detected, the light output automatically increases to 100% power, ensuring maximum illumination of the pedestrian’s silhouette and significantly enhancing safety while crossing the roadway.

The use of the active D-6 LED sign is recommended at pedestrian crossings near shops, commercial facilities, schools, public transport stops, as well as on municipal and county roads, where high visibility and rapid driver response are crucial.

The hybrid active D-6 sign combines modern LED technology, intelligent lighting control, and a high level of road traffic safety, providing an effective and energy-efficient solution for road infrastructure.
