Solar Pedestrian Crossing Lighting – Stara Łubianka, Szydłowo Municipality

In the village of Stara Łubianka, within the Szydłowo municipality, as part of the modernization of a municipal road together with road and technical infrastructure, pedestrian crossing lighting was installed using modern solar LED street lights. The aim of the investment was to increase pedestrian safety and improve crossing visibility after dark.

Solar street lanterns model SLU-38W/400W/6m were applied, equipped with LED luminaires with a power of 38 W, a light color of 4000 K, and a luminous flux of 6100 lm. The neutral light color ensures excellent visibility of pedestrians, road edges, and horizontal markings within the crossing area.

The solar lanterns were specifically designed for pedestrian crossing lighting. The applied asymmetrical LED luminaires direct the light flux exclusively onto the crossing zone and directly in front of it, without causing glare to drivers. As a result, pedestrians are clearly visible from an appropriate distance, significantly improving road safety.

The solar power system provides full autonomous operation of the lamps. The battery capacity enables a minimum of 44 hours of operation without access to solar energy, corresponding to at least four consecutive cloudy and rainy days. This solution guarantees uninterrupted lighting regardless of weather conditions.

The applied solution fully complies with the current WR-D-41-4 regulation concerning pedestrian crossing lighting, confirming correct lighting parameters and proper light distribution.

The supporting structures were mounted on steel poles compliant with PN-EN 1090, designed for operation in wind zone I in accordance with PN-EN 1991-1-4. The poles, weighing approximately 180 kg (without equipment), were installed on prefabricated F160 V43 foundations weighing 400 kg, ensuring high structural stability.

The poles are made of S235 steel and powder-coated in the signal color RAL 1003, which further increases their visibility within the roadway and enhances road user safety. The LED luminaires were mounted at a height of 6 m, allowing optimal illumination of the crossing.

The applied LED luminaires are manufactured in Poland, meet stringent quality standards, and hold a ZETOM certificate. As a result, the pedestrian crossing lighting in Stara Łubianka ensures durability, stable lighting parameters, and a real improvement in pedestrian safety.
