Construction of the Radojewo – Biedrusko bicycle path | active solar D-6a sign

As part of the investment involving the construction of the Radojewo – Biedrusko bicycle path within the Suchy Las Municipality, a task aimed at improving the safety of pedestrians and cyclists was carried out through the delivery and installation of a solar active D-6a sign, dedicated to bicycle crossings.

The applied solution was designed for locations where bicycle routes intersect with vehicular traffic. The active D-6a sign significantly increases the visibility of the bicycle crossing within the newly developed cycling infrastructure.

The D-6a sign was installed above the roadway on a pylon structure with a 6-meter-long arm, ensuring excellent visibility from a long distance for drivers approaching from both directions.

Two LED beacons with a diameter of 300 mm were installed on the pylon pole and flash 24 hours a day. Continuous light signaling effectively draws drivers’ attention and increases alertness in the bicycle crossing area.

Additionally, internal LED illumination of the pylon was applied, improving the readability of the signage after dark and in conditions of reduced visibility.

An integral part of the system is a dedicated LED luminaire for illuminating the bicycle crossing, equipped with motion sensors. The system operates in an energy-saving mode:

• after dark, the lighting operates at 30% power,
• when a cyclist is detected, brightness automatically increases to 100% power.

This solution provides clear illumination of the cyclist exactly at the moment of entering the crossing, reducing driver reaction time while optimizing energy consumption.

The applied solar active D-6a sign is a modern, autonomous, and energy-efficient element of road infrastructure, perfectly suited to the character of the cycling investment on the Radojewo – Biedrusko route, effectively increasing the safety of all road users.
